What a pattern actually is
A pattern is simply doing the same thing and getting the same result. The same argument in a different relationship. The same hesitation at the same point in every negotiation. The same collapse three months into anything that starts going well.
Underneath most patterns is a wound: an early experience, often not a dramatic one, that taught you how to operate in order to be safe, accepted or useful. That strategy worked once. It became how you function, and it kept running long after the situation that required it ended.
Almost none of that is conscious. You did not decide it and you cannot think your way out of it, which is why understanding the wound so rarely changes the behaviour. The work is making the subconscious conscious, and then doing something with it.
Why the body is part of this
Your nervous system responds before your reasoning does. It reads a room, a tone of voice or a decision and produces a reaction faster than you can consider one, and stress that was never discharged tends to stay in the body as held tension and a system that stays on alert.
That is why talking alone can take you a long way and still leave the reaction intact. An argument does not persuade a nervous system. It has to be worked with directly, in the body.
Why one layer is never enough
So a pattern is running in three places at once: in the story you tell about yourself, in what your body does before you have decided anything, and in the family system you inherited long before you had a say in it.
Most approaches work one of those layers well and leave the other two untouched. That is why so many people arrive here with genuine insight and an unchanged life. The RRR Method™ works all three, in sequence, because the order matters. You cannot rewire what you have not yet separated from yourself, and you cannot reclaim what you have not yet rewired.
